Loot System

1. Basics

The Great Council is using the EPGP system. You can download it from here or by using the wowmatrix program.

EPGP calculates your priority of loot (PR) as the quotient of your effort points (EP) to the gear
recieved (Gear points - GP)
. In short PR = EP/GP. This loot system solves many problems that traditional DKP
systems have and makes things more 'fair' to all members.

If you are familiar with other DKP systems, you could say that EP is the DKP you earn. And GP is the DKP you spend.

The main way of getting EP is by staying in the raid. We award 50 EP every 15 minutes or 200 EP per hour. Bonus EP may awarded by the officers depending on the situation (eg perfect boss fight)

You get GP when you win an item. Also concider that the starting GP for all members is 100. That is called Base GP.

Let's see how this works. As a new member, after 5 hours of raiding you are gonna have 200 x 5 hours = 1000 EP. Also you haven't gotten any items yet, so you just have your starting GP which is 100. Your priority is PR = EP/GP. => PR = 1000/100 => PR = 10. Easy, no?

The PR decides who is gonna get the item. Now let's say you win an item that costs 900 GP. What is your new PR? Your new GP is 100+900=1000. Your new PR=1000/1000 => PR=1

As you may have guessed a member with 10 priority will win an item over another member who has 1 priority. The highest priority wins

So how exactly can you get an item? When an item drops, you have to /roll to show that you want it. The officers open their EPGP addon, see who has the highest priority of the members who rolled and the highest gets the item. Simple and fast.

EPGP has other mechanism like minimum EP. Minimum EP is a number which every new member must surpass in order to get priority for an item. That way a new member will not be able to take items, till he/she comes on enough raids.

Another mechanism of EPGP is decay. Once every week ALL members of the guild loose their 10% of both EP and GP. How does this help?
  • Members cannot stack EP to get a huge priority to win more items. The more EP you are trying to stack the more EP you will loose from the decay.
  • New members (if they are active) can quickly catch up with older veteran members and in the end become almost equal.
If you wanna get a better look on how this system works, It is highly recommended to read the epgp loot system article on the EPGP website.

The Golden Rule

If an item is a direct upgrade of your old item, you HAVE to roll for it.

If you are trying to stack your priority in order to get the item you want, feel free to do it. BUT you should concider that you are gambling and that is exactly how it is. Officers can see who rolls, who needs the item (by inspecting). If the officers decide that a certain member does not deserve the item for the gambling reason mentioned above they can vote and give it to another member.

2. Global EPGP values

Right now we have agreed on the following EPGP values which may change as we progress on raiding:

Decay: 10%
Base GP: 100
Recurring: 50 EP every 15 minutes
Minimum EP: 3000

3. EP Awards (per Member)

Boss kills

We award EP for a boss kill:

  • If it is a first time progression kill
  • If the fight was executed perfectly
The EP given is decided by the officers and it's gonna range from 50 to 150. Maybe 200 in some extreme cases.

Bonuses

Bonus EP for exeptional performance will be awarded by raid leaders. These bonuses cannot
exceed a certain logical amount.

Penalties

Extremely bad behaviour and or actions that go beyond guild rules may cause a certain amount
of EP loss which will be decided by the Guild Master.

Off spec Items

If an item is not needed by anyone for mainspec then the raid members can roll for offspec. In that case
the item will be credited for 1/10th of it's original GP value.

Special situations

If the council notices that  the original GP value for an item is unfair for some reason, that item will be
credited for more or less of it's original GP value depending on the situation.

Farming Items for the guild

Members that farm certain items that are needed by the guild for raids or otherwise helping guild outside
raid times may be awarded with bonus EP depending on the size of the job and will be decided by the
Guild Master and/or Officers.

Standby members

A standby member is someone who is waiting outside the instance as a substitution or for any certain purpose. That person will recieve the the same EP as the members in the actual raid. A standby person must be able to get in raid quick when he is asked or he will have a pentalty

Standby member Penalty

If you are called for a replacement while on standby and you are unavalable (more than 2-3 minutes) you will loose all the recurring EP (if you got any) and some extra EP deducted which will be decided by the GM

4. GP Formula

If you wanna learn details about the exactly calculation of GP formula, visit the EPGP site. Some items have 2 GP values because they can be used for different reasons. What matters the most is to have a quick reference to decide which of those values to choose. And here is the reference, taken right from the EPGP site.

  • 2H Weapon:
    • If it is going to be used as an offhand (TG warriors for example) the modifier becomes 1 (down from 2)
    • If it is going to be used by a hunter the modifier becomes 1 (down from 2)
  • 1H Weapon:
    • If it is going to be used by a hunter the modifier becomes 0.5 (down from 1.5)
    • If it is going to be used by a tank for tanking purposes the modifier becomes 0.5 (down from 1.5)
    • If it is going to be used as an off-hand the modifier becomes 0.5 (down from 1.5)
  • Shield:
    • If it is going to be used by a tank for tanking purposes the modifier becomes 1.5 (up from 0.5)
  • Ranged:
    • If it is going to be used by a hunter the modifier becomes 1.5 (up from 0.5)
